Palm TX - tips and tricks

Here are a number of little tips that I’ve found useful while using my Palm TX, maybe you’ll find them useful too! (Although I’m guessing that everyone knows all about these kind of things and I’m the last to find out – as usual!)

Modifying the “Softkeys” on either side of the Graffiti area

It’s possible to change the “Softkeys” that are displayed on either side of the digitiser. It’s so easy that once you know you’ll be kicking yourself for months! Just hold your stylus on the key you wish to modify and up pops a list of applications. Choose the one you want and there you are, your softkey has been changed!

Quickly changing applications

If you press and hold the home hard key you’ll be presented with a little pop-up menu that lists the 6 most recently used applications.

Quickly beaming your business card

There’s no need to scrabble about for you stylus, navigate into the contacts application to beam your business card to another Palm. Simply hold down the “Contacts” button.

If you’ve not created a business card yet then create or edit an existing contact then from the Record Menu tap Select Business Card. Your chosen contact record will now display a business card icon at the top of the screen when you view it.

Quick Connect

While viewing a contact’s details you can easily connect to a phone, email or web site. From the “Record Menu” tap Connect (/i) to display the Quick Connect Screen. Then you can easily select the type of communication you wish to instigate!

You can make it even easier than this! From the Options menu select Preferences then check the Enable Tap-to-Connect box and tap on ok. Now you can just tap on the email address, website or phone number of a contact!
