Palm Cradle Kit

Recently while sorting out boxes of old computer junk I came across my old Palm III and it’s cradle. It was like bumping into an old friend and I wondered if getting a Cradle for my TX would improve my “user experience”. On an impulse I placed an order on-line.
My initial experience with the Palm Cradle Kit has left me feeling rather disappointed and the more I’ve tried to use it, the more disappointed I’ve become. The Palm Cradle Kit delivered little satisfaction.
What's on your Christmas list?

So what do you buy a Palm TX owning techno nerd like me for Christmas? I’m always being told that I’m incredibly difficult to buy for and I know that’s partly (mainly) due to my impatience and tendency to go our and buy the stuff I want as soon as I can afford it.
On thing I know I you shouldn’t buy for any Palm owning friends is the incredibly rubbish Palm Cradle. I’ve not changed my option since I reviewed it. It’s still a waste of landfill.

Here are a number of little tips that I’ve found useful while using my Palm TX, maybe you’ll find them useful too! (Although I’m guessing that everyone knows all about these kind of things and I’m the last to find out – as usual!) This article covers the modification of “Softkeys”, quickly changing applications, beaming your business card and quickly connecting.

Saying goodbye to an old friend

For a long long time I’ve been a fan of WordSmith by BlueNomad. I’ve used it for the best part of a decade, from when I owned a humble Palm III right until the present day and my Palm TX.
When I upgraded to the TX I was horrified to discover that if I had WordSmith installed in main memory and used the TX’s inbuilt find function that unit would reset as soon as it hit the WordSmith records! Disaster – I tend to use find fairly frequently. A workaround was to install it to a memory card, but that the broke the ability to Hot-Sync documents!
Alternatives to Graffiti on the Palm TX

I recently posted an article about Graffiti Problems on the Palm TX on the Palm TX which discussed replacing Graffiti 2 with the original Graffiti libraries. If, for whatever reason you’re not happy using the modified original libraries then is there an alternative?
Well at first sight TealScript by TealPoint seems to hit the mark.
